Ancient beauty of Dong Pagoda in Yen Tu Quang Ninh

Dubbed the “first spirit mountain” in Vietnam, Yen Tu scenic area is famous for its many historical monuments and beautiful natural scenery. Dong Pagoda is located at the highest peak of Yen Tu range. This is the largest bronze mountain top temple in Asia. The pagoda is also considered by folk as a “new wonder” in Yen Tu scenic spot.

Dong Pagoda, also known as Thien Truc Tu (Temple of the West, Thien Truc) is located in Nam Mau village, Thuong Yen Cong commune, Ho Chi Minh City. Uong Bi, Quang Ninh.

It is a sacred Quang Ninh tourist destination. Dong Pagoda is currently the most unique architectural work in Southeast Asia with a weight of 70 tons, a length of 4.6 m, a width of 3.6 m, and a height of 3.35 m.

The entire crossbar and vertical beam are cast in the shape of a dragon’s head. The four tops of the pagoda are shaped like a sloping roof, looking like a blooming lotus. The comedy-shaped pagoda’s tiles, the partition walls, the balustrades, the cranes, the couplets, the dragon reliefs are all vividly cast.

Previously, to get to Dong Pagoda, the only way to reach the top of Yen Son was walking, having to pass thousands of stone steps and mountain roads on a distance of about 6 km to reach the top of Yen Son. In recent years, the Yen Tu Scenic Area Management Board has put into use the cable car to help tourists from all over the world easily conquer Dong Pagoda.

Legend has it that Dong Yen Tu pagoda has rattan bells, wind chimes and rain bells. Every time the bell is ringing, the clouds, rain and wind pull back very sacred. Next to the pagoda there is a well, known by the people as Tien well, the special thing is that the well is located on the top of the mountain but never runs dry. Going to Dong pagoda to worship Buddha, drinking water from Tien well is the wish of many tourists from all over the world every time they visit Yen Tu.
