Along with Tay Phuong Pagoda and Perfume Pagoda, Thay Pagoda is one of the most famous temples in Hanoi. If  Lang Pagoda  is associated with the first stage of life Tu Dao Hanh, then Thay Pagoda witnessed the last life until the day of release of the 12th generation monk of the Zen lineage  Tinida-luu– this chi .

Thay Pagoda is located in Sai Son commune, Quoc Oai district, where it has a charming landscape with the architecture of an ancient temple with thousands of years of history and the majesty of Thay mountain that has captivated many visitors.

Features of Thay Pagoda Festival

The Thay Pagoda Festival is held at Thay Pagoda from the 5th to the 8th day of the third lunar month (the main festival on the 7th of March every year, including unique rituals such as: Bathing of statues (wooden moc), ceremony of the German card ceremony. Saint Tu Dao Hanh from Thuong Pagoda to Trung Pagoda, worshiping ceremony, sacrifice ceremony, procession…

The festival opens with a ceremony to worship Buddha and play the lute – a religious performance with a combination of national and dignified musical instruments. The crowd was drawn to the rhythm of chanting the monks’ sutras.

During the festival days, there are also many games, especially the guests can see the unique Vietnamese water puppetry art that the stage performs right in front of Thuy Dinh. There are many puppet shows such as Thach Sanh, Tam Cam or scenes of folk activities such as plowing, ducking, and wrestling.

The Thay Pagoda Festival not only features religious rites, water puppetry with bold folk nuances, but today resonates in many countries. Elegant young men from near and far come to Thay Pagoda festival to satisfy their adventurous spirit when climbing mountains and longing to express their love in an open natural setting.
